Many customers ask, what do you do all winter? Josef is not only a knowledgeable horticulturist, designer, and all around tree-guy, he is also skilled in remodeling. The simple two story home has been totally renovated and a large addition built in 1992.

Main floor

There is a Southwestern flavor style in the sunny family room with a kiva fireplace and a glass block zia on a wall; also a tree which is a focal point in the room- it has to be seen to be appreciated! The kitchen is brand new- renovated in 2006- using quality Ikea cabinets of red- a perfect look in the unique home along with new convection oven, wine refrigerator, coffee station, Travertine tile floor, gas cook top, pantry, and soapstone countertops. Off the family room is a nice deck built around a large weeping Serbian spruce offering a view of Lake Superior.

A bedroom on the main floor offers a lovely view of the pergola in the back yard. The bathroom is one of a kind with a granite sink, wrought iron features, lovely tile and stone work and a Jacuzzi bath.

The dining room affords a lovely view of the front yard and antique water feature. There is a large office with access from the nursery area with wireless internet access and sufficient outlets and phone lines available.

Upper floor

Upstairs are two bedrooms, the smaller one has a view of the lake (without getting out of bed); the master suite is roomy - an Italian feel to the decorating, a bathroom, sink, shower and dressing room and an upper deck with a two/three person hot tub overlooking Lake Superior.

The basement of the house is a basic basement - lots of shelving, closets, laundry room, utilities, and a bonus, a sauna and shower!

There are several outbuildings: a two car heated garage serves as the coffee bar, shop for garden supplies, check out with a lexon wall windbreak, has a finished room upstairs serves as a garage for the cold months; the quaint old wooden shed is a perfect spot in the center of the nursery for the gift shop; there is a nice potting shed with potting bench and storage; a large greenhouse with lighting and fan; and a very large pole barn for storage of tools and large equipment.

The landscaping in the yard and extending throughout the property is quite amazing! If a homeowner invested in such a magnificent yard, it would be well over $200,000! There are three ponds- one can watch birds bathing in the stream from the family room, the second is a natural pond with a bridge bringing customers through the nursery, and the third is quite spectacular with a series of waterfalls and large pond, two patios and a firepit all surrounded by more mature plantings on the hillside.

The front and back yard gardens have been works in progress for many years with many unique mature trees. Pathways take customers throughout the property -often spending time just enjoying the day at Edelweiss!
